In counseling there are many different ways a counselor can invite change. I primarily rely on mindfulness-based approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). In mindfulness-based therapy you are taught to focus on the moment so that you can make the best decisions for yourself, no matter how hard the moment may be. These approaches have proven to be effective primary treatment methods for Depression, Anxiety, Impulsivity, Addiction, Borderline Personality Disorder, Eating Disorders and more. Through mindfulness approaches we focus on dealing with the moment in a way that will lead us to the best possible future, our very own life worth living.
